Wondering…

I wondered while you were asleep.

Why do we cry? Why do we weep?

Or Lord above has seen it all

And if we His children answer His call

Don't we have access to His awesome power?

He values us above all His flowers.

We should not worry, fuss and fight.

For death could come this very night.

And while we would be in our Lord's Hands,

We'd leave the other on sinking sand

So let us not get lost in sadness.

For the victory is ours and Jesus is our gladness.

Cheating this week...

Hi my darling. I have been working on your website so I did not get your letter up on time. So I hope that you will forgive my tardiness. I'm also going to cheat this week and instead of a letter I will be posting a poem.

No Flaw...

You asked the question that all men dread this morning, "Am I fat?" Men fear this question because it is so loaded. There are usually so many different questions bundled up in this one. I know I answered you this morning but I am not sure if it was what you wanted nor if it was really adequate. So I thought I would clarify it here from a very respected source.

Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the maidens

All beautiful you are, my darling; there is no flaw in you.

-Song of Solomon 2:2, 4:7

I found the second passage today while looking for a scripture today. I knew that it was perfect for you. This is what I truly think when I look at you. There is no flaw. I have watched you get more beautiful everyday. I have been amazed that I could desire anyone as much as you. Not just from eros but also from sturgo, philio, and most especially agape. I desire your presence near me. I desire your companionship. I desire to sacrifice for you. And yes I desire loving you. Like a lily among thorns I found you and I enjoy looking at you.

Now back to what you asked this morning. Never be concerned with how you look to me. I never see any flaw. And when you need to see your reflection look at me. I will be your mirror. I will tell you what I see. Try it out and see. Come to me later and ask, "What do you see?" I will tell you, "All beautiful you are, my darling; there is no flaw in you."

My prayer for you today
Father I ask that you talk to my wife today. I ask that You would fill her with what You see. I know I can only tell her what I see on the outside but You see her heart. You know her mind. You can touch her soul. Remind her of the beauty that you placed in and on her. Remind her of my love for her. Remind her that she is the apple of Your eye. Spend time with Her today.

In Jesus name I pray
Amen

Thank You For Carrying Me...

Hi Beautiful,

It is funny what happens when you stop the busyness of your day and commit to doing something nice for your spouse. I was in a flurry of activity at work when I decided to stop and prepare this letter for. As I often do I went to www.biblegateway.com to search for a scripture. Right on the front page was the Verse of the day.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
Galatians 6:2

This single line reminded me of one of the best things about our marriage. We carry each others burdens. Specifically you carry my burdens when I cannot. I know that I struggle with asking for help. I try and do everything but that is impossible. When I hit the wall and can’t carry them anymore you don’t get frustrated or angry. You just pick up my burdens and carry them for me, even better you help me take them to the. Thank you for always being there for me. Even in my sin.

When we expand the above verse and look at it in context I see our relationship illustrated.

"Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day's out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ's law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived." – Galatians 1-3 (Msg)

I thank you for always restoring me gently, never throwing my sins back in my face and never cutting me with harsh words. I want you to know that you are loved today.

I pray that God will give you rest and continue to rejoice in you.

Sleeping…

It is 4:30am and I just put the little one down again and now I am listening to the two f you sleep. I am so awed by love itself. When I first realized that I was in love with you I thought that I would never love so much. Then we got married and I was surprised how much more I loved you as my wife than girlfriend. Now 5 years and two beautiful girls later I can't believe how much my love has grown.

I guess that is the nature of love. It cannot be contained. It cannot be destroyed. It cannot be reduced. Oh I know that the feeling of love, which people talk about, can change. I know that the passion can ebb and flow. However the true love that God teaches never dies. He demonstrates it time and again. God's love never fades. And it is better than anything else. You said it this weekend when you told me that no matter what we might preach about it always comes back to God's Love.

If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love. -1 Corinthians 13:1-7 (Msg)

We may not perceive it when we get locked in our sin but He is right there loving us. So as I listen to you sleep. I am reminded of what love is:

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end. - 1 Corinthians 13:7 (Msg)

I pray that I can love you like that. I want to always keep my mind on the good. Never look back, cover you, protect you, and very give up.

Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled.

But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love. – 1 Corinthians 13:8-10;13

I am so glad that I have found a good thing… no, I have found the very best thing of all. I have both the lover of my life and the lover of my soul.

Sleep well,

God's Man

Good Wife… Good Life…

Find a good spouse, you find a good life—and even more: the favor of God! – Proverbs 18:22(Msg)

To my Bride,

I just wanted to write to you to express how thankful I am to God for you. My life is so much better because of you. We often joked, early on in our marriage, about my broad shoulders are and my awesomeness but a lot of that was just a façade before I met you. I used by talents to keep my isolated and insulated from other people. I didn't want to be hurt so I would often push them away with my confidence. You however were different story.

I felt so incredibly drawn to you that I didn't care about being safe. You were so perfect to me. You were and continue to exude intelligence, drive, compassion, and focus. I know in the hectic day to day living you may not feel it but I see it. You know where you want to go. You might not know how to get there but you are always thing and planning. You are the best wife. I thank God because He saw past the superficial things that I thought I wanted in a wife and gave me the one that I needed.

My Prayer for You This Week…

Dear God, I thank you for my wife. I know that I have your favor because of this woman. I see your glory when I look at her. When we are together you are never far from us. Thank you for being in our marriage from the very start. Thank you for laying a solid foundation for us to build our lives on. You have given me the best wife and I see nothing but the best life ahead for us.

Keep my wife safely in your arms. In Jesus Name

Your Man

To my Bride...

The experts say that you should have a vision, a mission, and a plan before starting any endeavor. So I thought in this first letter I would share mine. I setup this blog, Letters to My Wife, because I want you to know how special you are to me. So here they are my vision, mission, and plan for Letter's to My Wife...

Vision Statement...
To be a place where my wife can be refreshed, peek inside her husbands mind, and be covered by his love.

Mission Statement...
Reinforce the strong foundation that God has created in our marriage by making deposits of love. This is accomplished through the written word.

Statement of Intent...
I intend to write you at least one love letter a week for the next year. New letters will appear every Wednesday.
